Disturbing Footage Captures Point Law Enforcement Suffer Blade Attacks in Ambush
A police sergeant that leaped to the aid of a partner that got attacked by a blade-wielder was granted the King's Commendation for Courage.
Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he held a weapon to the throat of his partner Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown began the violence as the policemen and their colleague, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a driver subsequent to a road collision in Whalley Range in mid-2023.
Brown attacked with blade the two Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster before PC Wolstencroft stopped him with a electric weapon.
"Policeman knifed," the officer stated over his radio.
Officer-mounted and vehicle camera footage released by the agency depicted Brown, who was dressed in black with a head covered, approach to Sgt Foster from behind with a knife outstretched.
He ran into the policeman who tripped and fell to the street, before Sergeant Ansell intervened and attempted to subdue him to the floor even though being continually attacked with the weapon.
PC Wolstencroft drew his Taser and sought a safe opportunity, bringing the confrontation to an end.
Sergeant Ansell can be heard to say: "I need assistance on my neck now, I got knifed in the neck."
Sergeant Ansell suffered two deep cuts to his throat and more injuries to his limbs and torso, while Sergeant Foster received cut injuries.
Authorities said Sergeant Foster utilized his palms to stem his partner's blood loss prior to emergency responders reached the scene.
The latest recognition arrives subsequent to the three officers were granted internal Bravery Awards in October 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the regional Police Federation in early 2024.
They further earned a Area Courage Honor in July 2024.
"The actions of the entire team eventually rescued each other and ensured no bystanders experienced any injuries."
Brown was given to an indefinite hospital order in early 2024, as stated by authorities.
