Mario's Galactic Adventure Trailer Debuts, Unveiling Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voices
Nintendo and Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. This occurred during a Nintendo-focused broadcast that highlighted the forthcoming animated feature.
The follow-up to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will transport Mario to the distant reaches of the galaxy. There, he will encounter a new princess and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
An Interstellar Journey Based on Beloved Titles
In the vein of the Wii console classics that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. On his epic voyage, he will encounter once more some well-known personalities, such as the Luma, a popular character from the first movie.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who apparently commands metallic abilities. Notably, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also features references to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The movie will welcome back of the original voice cast, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
A Big Year for Mario
The new Mario movie is planned to debut near the 40th anniversary of the first Super Mario Bros. title. In addition to the movie, 2026 promises to be a significant year for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo confirmed three new games publicly declared for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
